The Architecture for Life
In order to create healthy living environments in our cities and buildings, we need to include the principles of Biophilia - our innate connection to nature. Human beings are intrinsically connected and linked to visible and non-visible geometric forms and patterns in nature. This biophilic effect is important as part of our daily lives and can be divided into two parallels; one source of biophilic instinct is derived from inherent memory due to evolution, the second source is derived from the biological structure of nature itself. This structure comprises the geometrical rules of biological forms, a language of patterns; in essence, the combination of geometrical properties and elements of landscapes embodied in the complex structures found within all living forms (Salingaros, 2012; 2015: 9). Using the principles of biophilia and embedded patterns in a design narrative results ultimately in 'The Architecture for Life'
