About NeuRizer (NRZ) and the NeuRizer Urea Project (NRUP)
NeuRizer (NRZ) is leading the development of the NeuRizer Urea Project (NRUP), a nationally significant initiative that will produce low-cost, high-quality nitrogen-based fertiliser in South Australia, 550 kilometres north of Adelaide. Initially set to produce 1 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) of urea fertiliser, the project has the potential to expand to 2Mtpa, ensuring a secure supply for both local and export agricultural markets.
The NRUP will bolster Australia's sovereign manufacturing capacity for fertiliser, strengthening supply chain resilience and reducing reliance on imports. This will benefit Australian farmers and, to a lesser extent, industrial sectors that use urea, such as diesel additives (AdBlue) and industrial resins.
As one of the largest infrastructure projects of its kind in Australia, the NRUP will create significant economic and employment opportunities, with over 2,000 construction jobs and 2,450 ongoing positions. It will also drive long-term economic development for the Upper Spencer Gulf region, northern Flinders Ranges, and South Australia.
NRZ plans to operate the NRUP as an integrated facility, controlling key inputs like gas and CO₂, ensuring both supply and cost efficiency in production.
